Dr. Franz H. Messerli, MD, is a specialist in hypertensive cardiovascular disease and preventive cardiology. He is currently a guest professor at the Swiss Cardiovascular Center of the University Hospital in Bern, Switzerland, an emeritus professor of medicine at Mount Sinai Health Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine, and a visiting professor at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. After his graduation in medicine at the University of Bern Medical School and post-graduate training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Bern, Dr. Messerli participated in a research fellowship at the Clinical Research Institute in Montreal, Canada.

He was the director of clinical research at the Ochsner Medical Institute and held the position of clinical professor of medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is a prominent member of FDA’s Cardio-Renal Advisory Committee and various journal editorial boards, with 900+ publications. He was honored with several awards, including a doctorate from Jagiellonian University and the Alberto Zanchetti Life Achievement Award of the European Society of Hypertension.
